Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research (SBUR)
The Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research (SBUR) is an English-language Open Access journal that publishes high-quality scholarship across the full spectrum of business research. The journal seeks to advance the understanding of important contemporary and enduring questions in business and management and welcomes contributions of interest to both scholars and practitioners.
SBUR is the joint official journal of Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V. and the Verband der Hochschullehrerinnen und Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft e.V. (VHB). It carries forward the scholarly traditions of the associations’ former journals and consolidates them in a single internationally oriented publication.
For Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft, SBUR builds on a distinguished publishing tradition dating back to 1906, when Eugen Schmalenbach founded the Zeitschrift für handelswissenschaftliche Forschung, the oldest academic journal in business research in the German-speaking world. This tradition was later continued through Schmalenbachs Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung (ZfbF) and is continued today by SBUR as a contemporary, English-language Open Access journal.
Aims and scope
SBUR welcomes research in established and emerging fields of business, including accounting, finance, marketing, strategic management, organization, human resource management, production and logistics, taxation, digital business, and entrepreneurship. Open Access publication may be supported through institutional agreements with Springer or through funding provided by Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft and VHB.
Quality and Academic Standards
Articles apply rigorous research methodologies that fit the research questions to establish their scientific findings, such as analytical modeling, archival empirical and experimental, field and case research. To ensure high-quality scientific standards, articles submitted to SBUR are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer review, that is, reviewers are anonymous to the authors and do not see the names or affiliations of the authors.
